Back to Normal?

The kids went back to school yesterday, so I guess we're back to normal. Or are we? Although the kids went to school, they were not allowed to play outside due to the poor air quality. I even saw a parent yell at the school office staff because their child had to line up outside to go to class. The city canceled soccer practice again because of the air quality.

The fire near us is now 85% contained (encircled by firefighters) and should be fully contained by tomorrow. It has burned about 90,000 acres so far. Officials are expecting full control (extinguishment) by Saturday. That sounds like the end, but we are being warned by CalFire that by Friday humidity levels will drop again, and we could have more wind gusts of up to 50 mph in the canyons. Growing up, I always knew to fear earthquakes in California, but I didn't realize that wildfires would be a bigger threat.

Last night we went to Carl's Junior and there was a group of about 15 firemen there who have been working on containing the Poomacha fire. They had smears of black soot on their faces and when we walked in the restaurant we could just smell the smoke on them. It was so sad to hear some of them with incessant coughing, What a sacrifice they make for all of our safety.
