Fire Update

David took this picture from our backyard at 5:30 a.m. It is the top of Mount Miguel burning about 8 miles from us. The fire threatening our community divided when it reached the reservoir to our east. Part of the fire traveled north and part traveled south, mostly avoiding us since we are directly west of the reservoir. We are not 100% safe yet, but it seems that the winds have changed direction and are now blowing the fire away. However, the experts predicted that the fire will not be completely contained until November 4th.

School, church activities, and soccer have been canceled for the kids for the rest of the week because of the poor air quality and because parts of the two school districts are still threatened. We don't know how long David will be home with us, but we are enjoying our enforced family time :)

I'm so glad that you guys are okay...it would be so hard for you to get anywhere even if you had to leave. With watching the fire burning in Fallbrook and the one in Palomar we were kinda feeling surrounded, but those have both died down. It will be super ashy here tomorrow I'm sure.

Yikes. That looks a lot closer than 8 miles.

We need a new update from you....how are things down there? What have you been doing to keep from going stir crazy? Our schools were cancelled today & tomorrow, but I don't think I could have handled a whole week of the kids being home and not being able to play outside!
