Book Fair

Yesterday I wrapped up the Scholastic Book Fair that I was chairing for our elementary school. You can probably tell by our decorations that the theme for this year was "Blizzard of Books." I was so happy with how our entryway to the Book Fair turned out, and I had some awesome women helping me out. (But I made the penguins--aren't they cute!)

Over a five-day fair, we brought in about $12,000, which absolutely amazes me. I love helping the kids pick out books and wish I could steer them away from the junk table...I mean "boutique table." I also love telling the teachers that they can come and each take $100 of books out of the Book Fair. It means that we are providing more books for each of the classroom libraries. I'm exhausted, but I think it's worth it.

I love how excited you get about books because it gets me excited about them too. You did a great job on those penguins!

Good for you Kim! I always admire the person who chairs the book fair.....I'm one of those that goes and works the book fair once or twice, but can't imagine being in charge of the whole thing! I loved the decorations.....I just realized that scholastic must have a running theme, because ours was the same.

I love the way you decorated...what a task to take that on! I know who to come to when I am doing those kinds of things in a few years!!

Yes, Scholastic always has a fall theme and a winter theme. We usually only make a big deal with the decorations once a year--it's too much work!
