HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Happy (Belated) Mother's Day to everyone! I am especially grateful today for my own mother who was able to hold things together and do a great job raising 2 kids almost on her own during the first two thirds of my childhood. I have a wonderful, loving mother in law also, and I truly miss my three grandmothers who have all passed away. I am also grateful to my sisters and sisters in law who are great examples of motherhood!

Alas, I made my own Mother's Day breakfast because we had to hurry to 9:00 a.m. church, but my husband and children made a wonderful chicken-broccoli casserole for dinner. There were no homemade gifts from school (probably because of all the standardized testing for the past 2 weeks), but I enjoyed my other gifts and especially the cards.

Best of all, my husband and kids indulged me and let me drag them to the rose garden at Balboa Park for a tour. We had never been there before, and it was a great time of year to go.

Erin loved the Disneyland roses, so aptly named due to all the varied colors on just one bush!

Kelly poses with the "Rock and Roll" roses.

Brian & Erin let me take one picture of them together just because it was Mother's Day!

A great surprise was the hidden desert garden beside the roses. It was just as beautiful but in a different way.

What a sweet Mother's Day post. The only thing that could have made mine better was if you guys had been at mom and dad's but it looked like you had a great day together. Missed you on Memorial Day. Have fun with David's family while they are all here.
