We love Harry!

We are such huge Harry Potter fans! (In fact the kids were arguing over who was the biggest fan on the way to the movie.) We didn't make it to the movie on the first day, much to our dismay, but we did make it there last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I don't know how anyone who hasn't read the books could follow the movie, but the screenwriter did an excellent job of condensing the book. (This is the longest of the first five books and the shortest of the movies.) They touched lightly on all the major plot points, but I couldn't help but wish that they went more into depth with some of them.
All of the performances were excellent (although the actress portraying Luna Lovegood was truly as annoying as the character was). Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge was the scariest villain yet. Who would have thought that the color pink and pictures of kittens could be so terrifying? In attempting to hide her tyranny behind giggles and pink plaid, the moments that she let her facade slip and let her ferocity peek out were truly horrifying. She was amazing! J.K. Rowling and Imelda Staunton--you are geniuses!
We all enjoyed the movie very much, but only Brian thought that it was the best Harry Potter film yet. I think he was caught up in the emotion of the moment. I couldn't pick a favorite because they are all so good. We love you, Harry! I can't wait until July 21st for Book 7!

OK, no comment from me on Harry Potter because I'm so not into that. But, I noticed that you have "The Singing Bee" on your list of TV shows that you are watching. I hadn't heard about that show until my kids told me that a 4th grade teacher (Mr. Elias) at our school won $50,000 the other night! Kinda cool! Now I'm going to have to watch the show, but I'm bummed that I missed him.
